K.C. Frogge: News
Five Different K.C. Vocal and Songwriter CDs available for only $10 each, or all 5 for $40! - December 28, 2009
I enjoyed being one of eight women independent musicians with CDs available at the Winter Crafts Fair at the Space in Oakland on Saturday, Dec. 12th. Every hour, a different musician would staff the table and sell CDs of all the artists that were available. It was fun to see how many artists and shoppers enjoyed humming (or outright singing and harmonizing) along to various tunes from several of my CDs.
I still have a great selection and stock of all five of my available titles, and no matter how many you may wish to purchase, they will all be shipped FREE to any address within the United States. Thank you to all of you who encourage my continued creativity, as well as that of many other independent musicians by purchasing our creative works.
Here are my CDs available (and you can LISTEN to them BEFORE you order... click on "Music" at left, then click on a CD title, followed by clicking on individual song names, where you can read the lyrics, the story behind the song selection, and listen to actual clips of each song in hi- or lo-fi broadband):
A GREAT LIMITED-TIME OFFER! Only $10 each (or 5 for $40 -- that's buy 4, get 1 FREE)... several of the same title, or mix and match.
TO SEE EACH CD's COVER IMAGE, click on "PHOTOS" at left, then click on each CD photo to enlarge and read the summary.
"PAIR-O'-D's" -- This CD features seven songs (written or co-written by K.C.), some hilarious and some politically pertinent, but all are parodies of the original tunes... from "Mrs. Sandman," to "Pumpin' Back Cash (into Gas, Gas, Gas)", to "Torn Between Two Therapists" (written by Bethy B) on the comedy side of the coin... to "I'm Not In Kansas Anymore," "America (2009)" to "Obama Is Gonna Help You" on the flip political commentary side, these re-writes will definitely have you thinking, laughing, and sometimes just shaking your head at what craziness the world is coming to these days.
"SINGING OUT FOR MARRIAGE EQUALITY" -- Featuring three special songs I have sung at marriage equality rallies here in California, two of which I re-wrote specifically for the movement. They are: "America (2009)," a rewrite of Neil Diamond's hit "America", in which most all of the lyrics were re-written to inspire and commemorate the efforts of our LGBT community to attain matrimonial rights; "What The World Needs Now Is Love," where I re-wrote the verses for our movement (the chorus is perfect just the way it was so eloquently sung by Dionne Warwick); and "We Can," a big hit by country singer LeAnn Rimes, which lyrics are perfect just the way they were written, no changes necessary. Net proceeds from the sales of this CD are being donated to the Marriage Equality movement among three groups: Marriage Equality USA, Courage Campaign California, and the National Center for Lesbian Rights.
"FLYING SOLO" -- This is my first original music CD (my next CD is entitled "Into the Path of An Oncoming Life," and is still in the works). With nine "unplugged" songs in a "small venue" ambiance, it is intimate with just my acoustic guitar and vocals. The songs all feature my signature "storytelling" lyrics which tell vivid stories, and my musical compositions which form an indelible foundation for imagery. "Flying Solo" is a memorable journey that will lead you along many winding, introspective paths.
JUKEBOX BAKERS' DOZEN, VOL. 1" -- Thirteen diverse hits from the '60s, '70s, '80s, and '90s through 2004 with vocals by K.C. It's kind of like popping some coins into a jukebox and letting it randomly select some well-known hit tunes. Features songs like "Sweet Surrender," "Have I Told You Lately," "It's My Life," "Breakaway," "I Feel The Earth Move," "California Dreamin'," "Truly Madly Deeply," "Breathe," and more.
"LIVE AT THE MINT - 2004" -- Seventeen pop and rock hits captured live from performances at San Francisco's iconic karaoke performance lounge, The Mint. Incredible range of vocal styles, including a "don't-miss" performance of Aerosmith's "Dream On". Truly a reason why the nickname "Vocalrollercoaster" is well-earned. Also includes hits such as "Constant Craving," "Call Me," "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)," "Magic Man," "Stand Back," "I Want To Come Over," "Get Here," "Don't You (Forget About Me)," and more.
DON'T FORGET YOU CAN PREVIEW AND LISTEN BEFORE YOU BUY! Click on "Music" tab to the left and you can listen to sound clips of EVERY song on each CD title offered here. (For faster access to listening, first click on the song title to open up the lyrics page, then click on the sound clip selection you wish to load -- hi-fi or lo-fi broadband.)

New Upcoming Album: "PAIR-O'-D's" -- Exclusively PARODY CD! -- It's coming soon! - October 20, 2009
"PAIR-O'-D's", the first completely parody-song album by K.C., will be the next release in the Hopper Music lineup, and should be due out sometime after the 2009 holiday season, just in time for turning over a new leaf with a vow to laugh more and keep abreast of controversial news through parody songs.
(Yes, "Into the Path of an Oncoming Life" is still in the pipeline, although it will be delayed until the last two songs are finished.)

New Political Parody Song, "I'M NOT IN KANSAS ANYMORE" - October 20, 2009
I have a lot of fond memories of the state from where I relocated to be here in sunny and enlightened California, but in recent years, the state that used to be somewhat progressive and even liberal in the '60s* has been hijacked by conservative fundamentalists and even extremists with the intent on squelching any beliefs but their own narrow views of what morality and thinking should encompass. I'm talking about the Sunflower State: Kansas.
With recent events including a "Redneck Rapper" (who can't sing) telling tales of woe because our new President and a forward-thinking administration (including Kansas' former governor, Kathleen Sabelius, the new Secretary of Health and Human Services) wants to encourage Kansans to develop alternative forms of clean energy including wind, water and solar (and wean themselves off of coal, the last bastion of conservative dinosaurs who corner the market on it) and whines about shivering in the cold in 2020 without coal; or a Kansas member of Congress whose comments about searching the GOP for the next "Great White Hope" sounded like a swipe at our first non-White president; or the anti-abortion extremist who gunned down a doctor in the doctor's own church on a Sunday morning during church services in the name of "pro-life"; and finally, that always charming and enlightening (at least for the far-rightnut religious zealots) Fred Phelps, who pickets the funerals of U.S. soldiers because he is obsessed with crusading against gay people and says their existence is the reason why "God Hates America"... well, there's only so much a girl from that state can take before she stands up and shouts, "ENOUGH!" Are there ANY reasonable, progressive, common-sense people in Kansas who will now stand up and say they are tired of being made fun of because everyone knows what a haven their state is for nut-job wackos who spew such hate and bigotry?
Well, if enough people finally "get it," maybe there will be a progressive revolution... and perhaps this song will help light the candle that sheds light on the problem.
I may have left... but I still keep one eye looking behind me to see if there is any hope left for the folks I still know who live there. (One woman e-mailed me and said for the reasons I stated in my song lyrics, that's why she was no longer a Hoosier (from Indiana), either.)
----------------------------
* When I was young, Missouri had a "blue law" where stores could ot open for business on Sundays because of religious and backward thinking. Because we lived on the Missouri side in Kansas City, our family used to drive across the State Line (called State Line Road) and make an afternoon and sometimes into evening patronizing all the great stores that were willing to sell to eager Missourians who resented being told when they could and could not shop. Ultimately in the early '70s, Missouri lifted their Blue Law, but I still enjoyed going to the Kansas side to shop because we could. And although Kansas was a "dry" state for a long time, you could still get a "membership" by paying a small cover charge at bars to imbibe, dance and mingle. Small price to pay for equality, and that law is now off the books as well.
You can hear that song,
I'M NOT IN KANSAS ANYMORE
and read the lyrics, by clicking on "Music" and then clicking on the song title.
New Music Performance Video of "America (2009)" (a new Marriage Equality anthem) is now up on YouTube! - September 20, 2009
Two live performances from the snowballing hit event "Third Thursday Women's Talent Showcase" at the Montclair Women's Cultural Arts Club on September 17, 2009, featuring K.C.'s vocals and/or songwriting have been videotaped and are now up and running LIVE on YouTube for your viewing enjoyment.
This second upload, entitled "America (2009)" is a parody re-write to the music from Neil Diamond's mega-hit 1970s song "America", which original song sung of determination and pride of immigrants coming to America to find a better life and enjoy opportunities to be unique and genuine in becoming a part of the colorful and diverse quilt of American democracy.
Moving forward to the present day parallel of LGBT couples seeking to celebrate their committed and loving relationships by tying the matrimonial knot, it has been a persistent yet rocky road to liberation. However, with old-guard excuses for exclusion finding fewer sympathetic ears as time marches on, the reality that the country hasn't gone to ruin because same-gender couples have achieved relative equality in a growing number of enlightened states, and the realization that to be truly free, people need to be on fully-equal footing in love and in life. Being able to make an intended lifelong commitment to the person you love is the ultimate in celebratory freedom. Complete with visual annotations that reflect facts and history, I hope you will watch this piece and come away with a sense that somehow, love and respect will make many things right in this world.
You can see "America (2009)" on YouTube at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0cJ7mLblDw
If you enjoy it, please leave your comment on YouTube to let me know! Also, please feel free to send it to everyone you know who would enjoy having a new, upbeat and optimistic anthem to accompany us on this journey to equality.
New Music Performance Video of "Torn Between Two Therapists" is now up on YouTube!
The first, "Torn Between Two Therapists" is a collaborative effort pairing the clever comedy lyrics and body language miming of "Bethy B" playing the role of the song's therapist, and K.C. adding her vocals (and the harmony vocal which was recorded just for this song) and supporting antics to this hilarious number which almost literally brought down the house to an almost standing-room-only audience.
Re-written to the 1970's schmaltzy ballad "Torn Between Two Lovers," which was a hit for Mary McGregor, the tune sets the stage for a therapist's client "coming clean" with some strange confessions about "therapist infidelity". Complete with visual annotations that drive home the tongue-in-cheek punchlines that are delivered with precision timing, this piece will have you howling with laughter.
You can see "Torn Between Two Therapists" on YouTube at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlCTJsNpGqA
If you enjoy it, please leave your comment on YouTube to let us know! Also, please feel free to send it to everyone you know who would enjoy some really fun, offbeat humor from a couple creative of San Francisco area gals.
The second song, "America (2009)" is being covered here by a second release.

"America (2009)" is HERE - June 11, 2009
Well, shame on all those bigots who for whatever reason use religion, "tradition" (which changes from generation to generation), and fearmongering to erect whatever barricades they can in a desperate act attempting to prevent just and fair progress in a civilized society.
Here's my rendition of "America (2009)" dedicated to the marriage equality movement, and to all those couples out there who wish only to enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in our country with the person they truly love.
http://www.kcfrogge.com/music-25.html
And contratulations to Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, Iowa, New Hampshire, and Maine (with others to follow), in showing the rest of the country that allowing equality in the marriage tent hasn't caused the catastrophic collapse of our society that the opponents of marriage equality have trumpeted with horns blazing. After all, if someone is truly conservative, equality and freedom should be for EVERYONE.
[Sneak peek: I may be performing at a marriage equality event on June 25th in Hollister, near Santa Cruz... stay tuned for more details in "News" and "Calendar".]

Marriage Equality - a Cause Worth Supporting - May 31, 2009
This is why I've been energized and inspired to donate my time and talent to helping repeal Proposition 8 and to inspire those who need a reason to side with marriage equality for everyone.
In addition to my re-write of "What The World Needs Now Is Love" before last November's election (on my "music" link under "Political and Parody"), I also have enjoyed re-discovering the LeAnn Rimes mega-hit "We Can" and its lyrics that are absolutely perfect for the marriage equality movement... and I also want to sing this song, perfect as it is, in rallies and events to support marriage equality.
My newest effort, just this weekend, has been to re-write completely the lyrics of Neil Diamond's hit "America" and call it "America (2009"), as an inspiring anthem for the movement. I hope you will enjoy it, as I will be uploading the MP3 on Monday, June 1.
Worthy Causes & Payment Methods/Address - March 30, 2009
1. MARRIAGE EQUALITY LITIGATION: NCLR and Equality California have shouldered the bulk of litigation efforts towards overturning Proposition 8, the unfair initiative seeking to invalidate the 18,000 already-legal marriages and preventing further same-gender marriage equality in California. What the world needs now, is LOVE SWEET LOVE, not more hate and inequality... Let Love Live Forever!
2. MY MOTHER... after Dad died, Mom has smiled through some pretty rough times. Financial gifts from friends in December helped her eliminate a joint credit card debt she and Dad needed to get rid of. She lives frugally, but still needs some help now that Dad's social security is gone. I have Mom and Dad to thank for the gifts of my voice and sense of humor, as well as the love I feel for all my wonderful friends and family, and I'd love to keep helping her with those gifts through this CD project.
3. HOUSE RABBIT SOCIETY (www.rabbit.org) based right here in the Bay Area in Richmond, CA. HRS is the leading organization for rabbit rescue and fostering groups. Especially now at Easter, education about properly caring for and understanding the resonsibilities of bunny ownership are crucial to ensuring that no bunny is abused or unwanted because of misunderstanding of their personalities and behavior. HRS is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and I've always adopted my wonderful rabbit companions through shelters and foster care. My own wonderful house bunny, Hershey, is healthy and adored because of everything I've learned through HRS.
You can make your donation directly to me, and I will forward it to the cause of your choice, and you can also divide your gift into percentages for more than one cause. Send payment (and instructions) along with your mailing address (for CD and donation receipt) to:
K.C. Frogge
P.O. Box 19283
Oakland, CA 94619
OR you can send payment electronically through PayPal (with notes in the "Comment" section) to me at kcfrogge@earthlink.net once you're on the PayPal.com site. It's fast, free and totally secure!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HEARTFELT GIFTS OF LOVE AND SUPPORT!
With appreciation,

"Concert For My Father" CD and News Updates - March 30, 2009
After almost a month in Kansas City, I returned to the Bay Area and a few days later was diagnosed with a life-threatening bacterial infection which nearly took my left leg. I have, thankfully, almost fully recovered, but am rebuilding my body's defenses by watching my blood sugar levels and seriously getting back to health by following a sound nutritional regimen and getting a lot more exercise.
This new awakening has reinvigorated my creative awareness and infused me with a new sense of thankfulness and inspiration for the gifts which I have been given, so I want to give back.
In addition to re-engaging my brain to actively songwrite and perform my original work, I am also enjoying the challenge of parody writing and exercising my vocals to background music tracks which I have always enjoyed. While Dad was alive, he mentioned to me that he wanted to have a CD of songs I liked with my vocals that he could enjoy as his own "private concert". Well, Dad, you left us before I could embark on that trail, but I can still do this for you because I know you can hear me from where you are now. So I'm recording a CD called "Concert For My Father" and making it a benefit for fundraising efforts. Once I'm finished with the CD (18-20 songs), it will be available as a "thank-you" gift when a donation of $20 or more is made in support of a cause close to my heart.
You will be able to hear the songs on my "Music" page under the "Concert For My Father" title, but I encourage you to support one of my charitable projects so that I may send you a complimentary CD of all the songs, which you can then convert to downloads on your computer if you have a CD drive and a USB port for your iPod or MP3 player.
See my news entry "Worthy Causes and Payment Methods/Address" for causes close to my heart and how you can donate and get your free CD.
And THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for all your love, concern and support as I've come through a very challenging and enlightening time. My voice is stronger and more vibrant than ever now for all the right reasons.
Love, Peace and Friendship,
K.C.
New songs for 2nd CD Release, target date summer 2009 - November 15, 2008
I'm still making headway towards eventually recording my second album, "Into The Path Of An Oncoming Life," which I'd like to think will be out sometime in the summer of 2009. We'll see how things go.
I've just finished writing an incredibly evocative new song, "Scent Of The Rain," which basically is an indictment of those who would use deception and lies to get what they want... but truth always wins out in the end.
This song was written for everyone who feels that their civil rights were ripped out of their hearts, but who also feel that truth and justice will somehow prevail. We all know what I'm talking about. So this song is dedicated to the marriage equality movement, and when it is finished (finalizing the music at the present), I hope to be performing it in benefits to raise money for the cause. You can bet on it making a lyrical impression to remember.
If you'd like to sneak-peek the lyrics, go to the "music" link and scroll down to the "Into The Path Of An Oncoming Life" CD songlist, then click on "Scent Of The Rain". The lyrics will magically appear... enjoy!
Stay tuned,
K.C.
I'm Just Doing What I Know How to Do -- Election 2008 - October 31, 2008
I came late to the fight (with "being very busy" an excuse/reason), but decided it's better late than never to make a contribution and stand up for civil rights of ALL Californians to be treated equally under the consitiution... religious interference has no business in civil matters... churches can decide whether or not to join two persons together in marriage without risking losing their tax-exempt status... but the wholesale pouring of tens of millions of dollars into the "Yes on 8" coffers to run misleading, hateful ads on TV is the equivalent of being a political PAC, and for THAT, they should have their tax-exempt status yanked IMMEDIATELY.
I have stood on street corners with signs opposing this hateful measure, having epithets, hate language and disgustingly vile, suggestive language and physical gestures aimed my way, just for standing up against oppression and treatment I KNOW is wrong... I have donated more money than I can really afford to spend, but know if we don't give to help our side counter the other, our message will get lost. I have written letters to the editors of over 200 big-city, small city, and large town newspapers, asking readers to stop and consider what it means to take away civil rights because someone is not just like them. I have written three parody songs for this 2008 campaign:
What The World Needs Now (to the same tune, lyrics and music by Burt Bachrach), chorus intact but verses changed to address Prop 8
Obama Is Gonna Help You (to the tune "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You" by Gloria Estefan and The Miami Sound Machine) and
Pumpin' Back Cash (Into Gas, Gas, Gas) (to the tune "Jumpin' Jack Flash by the Rolling Stones)
I hope you will go to the "Music" link on this site, go to "Parody Songs" (under my "Flying Solo" listing), and listen to them all. I believe you will truly enjoy the message that "we are watching out for each other" and that significant changes in this country to bring all of our citizens into the peace and prosperity we crave is paramount to our survival as a human species.
May kindness, justice, and love prevail, now and forever!
Amen.

Politics and the Environment -- Songwriter Fodder - September 23, 2008
I was recently selling my custom jewelry designs at Alameda's "Webster Street Jam" festival and, during a slow moment early in the day, took notice of a fun group of people signing up Democratic voters. These folks were a true cross-section: young... mature... seniors... blue collar, white collar, pink collar, no collar... men and women... sporty, geeky, execs, artists... Caucasian, African-American, Hispanic, Pacific Islander, Asian... you name it, it was one heck of a good mix. Close-by was a life-sized cardboard cutout of Barack Obama beckoning the masses to come by and sign up. Everyone was wearing "Alamedans for Obama" t-shirts, and even a life-sized cardboard cutout of G.H.W. Bush wearing an Obama t-shirt was getting attention. But something was missing, even though everyone was in a festive mood.
As I watched the group, they were bouncy, rhythmic and energetic in their enthusiasm for the message of change... and as most artists usually do, a bit of dyslexia set in as I kept looking at the "Obama '08" logo... then it became "'08 Obama," etc... a classic dance tune popped into my head as I replayed the "'08 Obama" in my head... "OMG, that's IT!" I thought... and the rest was up to creativity and fate.
I went up to the group at the tables, and as they acknowledged me, I said, "To REALLY get things popping, I've got a chant to teach you." "Let's hear it," they replied.
I asked them if they were familiar with the Gloria Estefan & Miami Sound Machine's hit song "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You," and many said YES.
"Okay," I said, "here's the chant... "08, '08"... and asked them to repeat it back... which they did. And then, "'08, Obama"... and repeat it they did. We spent the next 60 seconds tightening it up and getting a second melodic harmony out of it... and within a few moments, the whole table and a dozen people were excitedly chanting the words and getting louder and more harmonious. I smiled and went back to my booth, knowing they had something to make some noise about.
All through the day, I kept hearing that chant wafting its way through the air, and at some times there were as many as 25-30 people gathered around the table chanting it over and over. And they registered a BUNCH of new voters that day. I smiled again, knowing that sometimes, creativity can help nudge a cause closer to its goal through cohesive harmony and just having fun.
The next morning, as we re-set up our booth for the Sunday festival date, the organizer came over and said he had that song stuck in his head when he went to bed. He asked me, "I wonder if we could write a verse to go along with that?" My answer? "I think I can do that."
After we put everything away at the end of the day, I thought a lot about that idea... and that Sunday night, began planting the seeds by listening to the original song and jotting down some ideas as to themes to touch on that perhaps a new and idea-oriented administration could get some traction in, which ended up being: (1) home foreclosures, (2) outsourcing of American jobs, (3) regaining our domestic civil liberties, and (4) unwillingness of the party in the White House now to accept responsibility for getting us into these dilemmas. On the next night, Monday, I had the song completed. You'll find it under my "Music" link under "Parody Songs".
I'm also releasing my song "Golden Globe" for consideration to be used by recognized environmental groups and agencies to call attention to the crisis associated with the global warming epidemic, pollution, greed in commandeering world resources, ignorance of renewable energy sources by the petroleum industry and, in general, the taking of global resources by the few at the expense of the many. This song addresses many of those points.
I hope that whomever you choose in your local, statewide, and national elections, you think carefully about who will not only be more willing to go along with rehabilitation of old and dangerous ways of taking from the Earth, but be more DEDICATED to pursuing a policy of renewable resources, protecting wildlife, waterways, and stewarding our resources to make life predictably happy and healthier for generations to follow.
I thank you for reading this. "Golden Globe" is already in the "Music" link section, under my still-to-be-released work titled "Into the Path of an Oncoming Life." Sorry it's been so long... I got sidetracked by other creative projects, and I assure you, it will come out someday, and will be worth the wait. Right now, I'm creating under the mantra of "If it's meant for me to have, it will be there when I get there."
OH, and while we're at it... let's poke some fun at BIG OIL, shall we? I'm also publishing the lyrics to my recent parody song, "Pumpin' Back Cash (Into Gas, Gas, Gas)", which was performed in early August to an enthusiastic crowd with the help of a few of my "peeps over 50" (yes, I'll admit it), as "Brick Dagger and the Polling Crones", to the original tune of "Jumpin' Jack Flash" by The Rolling Stones. Check that one out under the "Music" link under "Parody Songs", too. You'll have a few good laughs at Big Oil's expense. Oh, and it doesn't hurt to trade in that gas hog for something a little smaller, either.
Life's a journey, not a destination.
Peace,
K.C.

K.C. on the radio? Listen at NTGR-FM! - January 21, 2006
NTGR plays an incredibly eclectic mix of all women from universal superstars under its ASCAP, BMI and SESAC licenses, to fresh-out-of-the-studio indie artists whose music Ursula regards as being worthy of NTGR programming. Recently, K.C. commplimented NTGR for its incredible array of mainstream as well as indie artists and added, "I hope my debut CD as an acoustic work will please listeners because I'm in awe that so many of your airplay artists are so polished and produced." Ursula replied, "In regard to being in awe, you belong there with them, newcomer or not. It's about the music, right? And if your songs make them tap their toes and smile, which I am positive they will, then you've done good!
PS - Got the CD, you ROCK! We'll have you on air as soon as we transfer a few files. Should be this weekend, k?
Luv Ya!
Urs"
Listen for K.C. online, possibly as soon as this weekend (January 22nd) at www.ntgradio.com, go to their homepage, and select your bandwidth to download the player... then rock out with NTGR-FM... "All Women, All Day".
