Don't Save a Rocking Chair For Me
(K.C. Frogge)
February 15, 2003
Music and Lyrics by K.C. Frogge
This is a tribute to my mother in honor of her 60th birthday... I first got the idea for this song in 1993, jotted down a few lines, then finished it in 2003... it only took a decade! And her example of never slowing down or giving in is great inspiration for my own energies and zest for life.
See the sand in the hourglass?
It means that time is slipping away.
But I'm gonna turn the tables upside down,
'cause I'm just beginning to play.
So don't save a rocking chair for me...
instead you'd better think of saving your energy.
You can save your money,
you can even save your soul...
but don't save your time in a box for growing old
and don't save... a rocking chair for me.
I forgot how many times I've been told
stories about how I'm gonna be gray and growing old.
But 'till that day arrives, I'll still be sailing on;
I'm gonna make some waves up until the day I'm gone.
So don't save a rocking chair for me...
instead you'd better think of saving your energy.
You can save your money,
you can even save your soul;
but don't save your time in a box for growing old,
and don't save... a rocking chair for me.
I love sunsets and shades of gray,
but for the rest of my life just let me run and play.
Don't be surprised if I take the long way home;
all I want is just a little room to roam.
You can save your money,
you can even save your soul...
but don't save your time in a box for growing old,
and don't save... a rocking chair for me.
Don't save a rocking chair for me...
and don't save... a rocking chair for me.
Not for me.
