Beth called me and said she'd written this really funny parody song to the old '70s schmaltzy ballad "Torn Between Two Lovers" and renamed it "Torn Between Two Therapists". I read it and said it wasn't funny... it was HILARIOUS.

She asked me to sing it, with her playing the role of therapist, at Third Thursday Women's Talent Showcase at Montclair Women's Cultural Arts Club on September 17th's new season opener, and I couldn't let this piece of comic schtick pass.

So... we rehearsed it twice, and at Third Thursday, her animated mimings to the punch line lyrics, coupled with the "made for schmaltzy ballads" vocals I was able to intone, created a hilarious five-minute skit that brought the house down.
