The fallout surrounding Prop 8 produced a consensus that it has been a divided and expensive initiative... but the money lags behind the price paid since it passed: elimination of the adjudicated civil right of GLBT citizens to marry under the authority of the current California Constitution, and unjust affirmation by the California State Supreme Court, although the 18,000 marriages performed before November 4th still stand. I was moved to write new verse lyrics when I read a passage from a letter by James Brosnahan, Senior Partner at Morrison & Foerster, directed to Richard Peterson, professor of law at conservative Pepperdine University and the "face" of several "Yes on 8" ads; his words were profound and oh, so basic: "Sir, there is not enough love in this world and what love there is should be nurtured and not opposed by a state government and certainly by a state constitution."

Yes, what the world needs now is LOVE... not HATE. And I wrote the new lyrics in just a few minutes.

Hopefully you'll take this song with you in your heart... and please DO download it to your iPod! it certainly makes the hateful language and obscene gestures by the "Yes" camp look pretty ridiculous in comparison, especially in the eyes of potential new voters now facing a decision for 2010 or 2012... hmmm, violence or love? Duh!
